The History of Establishment
The Educational-Scientific Information Center takes its origin from Kazan Industrial School and its library's foundation in 1897.
In 1918, The Industrial School was reformed into Kazan Polytechnic Institute. All of the library's funds were transferred to the newly established institution.
In 1920, the institute library, which later became the one of an industrial technical school, was the only one in Kazan that had such an amount of technical literature accumulated in one place. The library fully satisfied the needs of not only its readers, but also of people from outside of the institute.
In 1929, The Polytechnic Institute was reopened and later, in 1930, reorganized into The Chemical Institute, which was included into the country's title list of higher education institutions as Kazan Chemical-technological Institute. On June 2, 1939, the library was completely transferred to Kazan Chemical-technological Institute.
In 1941, Chemical-technological Institute named after Lensovet, which was evacuated from Leningrad, joined the institute and brought a part of its library fund (equal to 2,000 volumes) that later was granted to Kazan institute's library. Due to its basic characteristics, the library was ranked a higher-education institution's library of the first category in 1990.
In 1992, The Educational-Scientific Information Center was founded at Kazan Chemical-technological Institute. The center included the Fundamental Library, the editorial department, a printing house, an offset laboratory, a photo laboratory, a service of standards, the department of scientific and technical information, a training course on the science and practice of patenting and protection of author's rights and bibliography.
In 1996, Kazan Chemical-technological Institute was reformed into Kazan State Technological University. next>> Pages: 1 2
