Khamid Mushtari
Outstanding tatar scientist-mathematician, first tatar doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, professor. Khamid Muzaffarovich Mushtari was born on July, 22, 1900 in the city of Orenburg, in the family of a teacher. In 1918 he finished gymnasia with a gold medal and in the same year entered the physical and mathematical faculty of the Kazan university. In 1920 because of poor health he was transferred to the Central Asian university of the city of Tashkent. Having graduated from the university in 1923, Mushtari came back to Kazan. In 1925 H.Mushtari entered the postgraduate study of the Moscow university. In 1929 he wrote the master's thesis, and since that year all his scientific and pedagogical activity had been connected with Kazan. Mushtari managed the faculty of theoretical mechanics of the Kazan institute of engineers of municipal construction, the Kazan aviation institute, and later the Kazan chemical technological institute. In 1934-1938 Mushtari developed the basis of the nonlinear theory of thin environments. From 1946 till 1972 Mushtari had been the director of physicotechnical institute of Kazan branch of Academy of Sciences and till 1976 headed the department of the theory of environments of this institute. He wrote over hundred works entering the gold fund of the mechanics. He created wellknown scientific school, brought up 8 doctors and more than 30 candidates of sciences.
