Unique borehole derilled in Tatarstan

Drilling masters of "Tatneft' drills unique horizontal borehole with outcrop on Ashalchinsky bitumen layer
The uniqueness of this borehole is that it is drilled from the usual drilling rig BU-75 and has two mouths (input and output). Horizontal boreholes with the outcrop has been never drilled with the vertical drilling rig in the world.
Different technical solutions were tested. As a result of the trial-and-error method, original technology was created, which allowed carrying out the stated task: to drill in the horizontal bore hole accurately at the indicated place and to leave to the surface at the point assigned in 491 meters. The length of stem along the bituminous deposits constituted over 300 meters.
The complexity natural bitumen productio, no matter how strange it may seem, consists in the fact that they are located closely to the surface: on Ashalchinskyy layer they lie only in 100 meters underground.
According to different estimations, the geological resources of heavy oils and bitumen on Tatarstan layers reach 1,5 to 7 billion tons with the average depths of bedding 80 to 200 meters.
The drilled borehole is force hole. The following stage will be drilling the second production borehole, which must accurately repeat the profile of the first, being located of five meters lower than it. |
