Actions
Concerts
As a result of work of Composers' Union and the Kazan Conservatory a number of actions were organized: creative meetings and master-classes with participation of Daniil Kramer, Igor and Dmitry Brils, the meeting and joint concert with David Goloschekin, with Ofella Dallas (Switzerland). Students of the choir-conducting department took part in the concert of the orchestra 'The Virtuosos of Moscow' under the leadership of Vladimir Spivakov. Together with the KSC the concerts, dedicated to the anniversaries of the Tatar composers S. Saidashev and N. Zhiganov, were organized and performed. The teachers of the Kazan Music school were adequately represented on the latest International Festival of modern music 'Europe-Asia'.
Collaboration
Creative collaboration with Theatre workers' Union of the RT resulted in performing concerts dedicated to the Victory Day and participation in the memorial evening of the director of the Opera and Ballet Theatre N. K. Dautov.
Together with Artists' Union of the RT the school took part in the opening of different exhibitions of the artists of Tatarstan. Creative contacts of Kazan Music School stretch far beyond the boundaries of the Republic. Thus, through the Ministry of Culture contacts with Tatar diasporas of the Volga region and the Republic of Belarus have been established. It has become apparent, first of all, in combined actions with the Tatar-Bashkir Fund 'Chishma'(Belarus). In 2000 the III All-Belarus festival of national cultures took place, where Tatar culture was represented among others.
There are wide and strong collaborations of the KMS with organizations and establishments of culture of Chuvashia, Udmurtia, Mordovia, the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Republic of Mari El, Ulyanovsk and Samara regions. Those contacts are represented with participation in scientific and methodic conferences and theoretical Olympiads, held on the base of one or another musical school, exit concerts of some artists and exchange of concert programs and master-classes of the music school teachers.
Participation in the activity of different combined societies with foreign countries is also very productive.
Close contacts between students and teachers of string, piano and theoretical departments of the school and the Center of the French language and culture has been established during the last 5 years. Numerous concerts, lectures-concerts, creative meetings, participation in the Days of French culture in Kazan, 'French village', the International day of Francophone. There are creative connections with the music college in Rumania (Rymnikov-Vyachev city), which are expressed in the exchange of concert programs.
As a result of collaboration with the society 'French speaking Rumanians' the KMS students took part in International festival 'The Talent of the XXI century'.
Creative meeting with the representative of religious society of Ohayo took place.
Teachers of the KMS R.A. Brening and T.A. Brening collaborate actively with the German society, participating with the great interest in the affairs of the German Diaspora in Tatarstan: they are responsible for musical mounting of the meetings of the society, perform solo concerts in Kazan as well as on seminars taking place in the towns near Moscow, and contribute a considerable share in organizing celebrations together with the other collectives (for example, with the choir 'Donen Crone'). Often the orchestra of Scientists' House (constituting of the students of the KMS) under the leadership of R.A. Brening takes part in the musical life of German Society.
Teaching Today there are 353 students in the school, 10 departments work: piano, choir conducting, the departments of string, folk, wind and percussion instruments, of the theory of music, and of solo singing.
In 1990 the Tatar department was opened in order to train highly professional national specialists. In 1995 a variety department was established, it was dictated by the barest necessity of musical life of the city, which has been known as one of the centers of Jazz culture of Russia.The role of the school in the development of children's musical education is great. The school prepares teachers for children's music schools and music studios, leaders of children's choir and folk collectives. Graduates of the school work successively in the regions of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, and abroad.
Concert activity of the talented students and creative collectives of the school (a choir, a folk ensemble, a quartet, chamber, wind, pop orchestras and an orchestra of folk instruments) is very intensive. The thing that their performances are recorded on the radio and constitute the artistic fund of the Republic of Tatarstan speaks for itself. High level of professional training of the students has been marked with the laureates' titles and diplomas of the contests of young musicians of Tatarstan, Russia and Europe. The contacts and cultural interchange with musicians of foreign countries are getting stronger.
