The general information on the library's fund
The fund of The Educational-Scientific Information Center includes about 2 million units of storage. The number of common subscription ticket holder is equal to 15,042 readers, whereas all users of the library's services make 53.000 readers. The number of issued books is equal to 1 million volumes.
The readers of The Educational-Scientific Information Center include all kinds of students, higher education institutions' faculty and staff, scientific employees, post-graduate students, and common public. The readers are being served in 8 subscription and 9 reading halls of the library.
The Scientific-bibliographic Department and Department of Information Work provide the university's employees with information service on the basic scientific and new educational directions of the university's scientific work. These departments serve 167 topics (of 66 subscribers), which annually receive 2500 information notifications. In addition, the employees of the Department of Information Work prepare retrospective-thematic bibliographic indexes. For example, in 1997, the department issued 3 retrospective indexes with the level of retrospection of 10, 20 and 43 years with 273, 335 and 817 titles respectively.
The department of specified and technical documentation provides information service to the university's employees and students on legislative acts of the Russian Federation and RT. The department of scientific and technical information, alongside with scientific works' registration and deposition, provides employees and students of KSTU with an information service on the questions of scientific and methodical conferences, meetings-seminars and other events.
The Educational-Scientific Information Center's fund is universal in terms of its contents and includes library funds of all university's divisions. The basic library's fund consists of various kinds of domestic and foreign educational, scientific, reference, technological, and fiction literature, alongside with normative documentation and unpublished materials. All sites of issue are equipped with supplementary funds (universal, specialized, and branch funds).
