A.M. Gorky Literary - memorial museum is a branch of the State Amalgamated Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan.
It was established in 1940 on the basis of memorial bakery in the basement of the building, where Alexey Peshkov (А.М. Gorky) worked in 1886-1887 as a baker's aid.

By the middle of the XIX century, the museum had one of the largest numismatic collections in Europe. In the 60-s of the XIX century, cabinet-museums united into a museum of antiquities, fine arts and numismatics.
