Kulakhmetov Gafur
Kulakhmetov Gafur(Gabdulgafur) Yunusovich was born on April 22, 1881 in Penza, in the family of a petty industrialist. In 1902 he finished Kazan teachers' school, worked as a teacher (1902-1912). He participated in illegal social democrats groups, read Lenin's 'Iskra', studied C. Marx's works. Since 1913 translated revolutionary literature and distributed it. In 1905-1906 he worked on democratic press. In 1906 he published poem 'Ruined pier', which called to fight with tsarism. The play 'Two thoughts'(1906) in allegoric symbols revealed the victory of socialism ideas. The drama 'Young life'(1908) was first in Tatar literature which showed revolutionary workers and developed the theme of international proletariat solidarity. |
