Kusnetsov Nikolai
Nikolai Dmitriyevich Kusnetsov managed to animate the landscape and show the most necessary things in it. He always needed some movement - movement of the air or a crowd, needed some sound - he was able to express them in his paintings. Nikolai Kusnetsov was born in a settling of Vasiliyevo in 1923 in the family of a rail man - his father was the chief of a small station 'Vasiliyevo'. The years of his childhood Kolya spent near his father. Fast trains, good-trains passed the station, and at some distance on the siding the old steam locomotive shunted - all this surrounding stamped in the boy's soul, and consequently his passion has founds its reflection in his works. His attentiveness to details, his wish to tell about life's fascination made the boy enter the Kazan Art school. In 1939 he became a student and Vasiliy Kirillovich Timofeyev' s apprentice. Nikolai's teacher was an apprentice of Nikolai Ivanovich Feshin, and the successor of his ideas in art. Kusnetsov was always attracted by the city, he depicted vast space with a number of figures scurrying about in different directions: the architecture of the streets has frozen, only figures are moving, creating choppiness. And the artist is looking not only for people's movement, but for movement of the air, which helps to see everlasting movement of all existing things. |
