  Kamaletdinov Galiaskar Kamal
  The founder of Tatar dramatic art
  He was born in 1879 in Kazan. He studied first at "Gosmania" madrasah, in 1889-1897 - in madrasah "Muhammadia". At the same time Kamal studied Russian at city school.
  The first Kamal's play was "Unhappy Youth", it was published in 1900. The history of Tatar theatre began since the performance of "Pitiful Child". He took active participation in the activity of "Sayar" troupe as an actor and playwright.
  Kamal carried educational activity. He was the editor of "Azat Halyk" (Free people) democratic newspaper. He founded a publishing house and was engaged in booktrade.
  His creative activity became great after 1905, when, under the impression from first Russian revolution, he wrote plays "First Theatre", "Bankrupt" and others.
  G.Kamal is one of the initiators of artistic translations of Russian writers into the Tatar language. He translated such outstanding works as "Wedding" and "Auditor" of N.V.Gogol, "Thunderstorm" of A.N.Ostrovsky, "On the bottom" of A.M.Ostrovsky.
  The playwright died in 1933.
