The central image of the arms - a winged leopard - in the antiquity - deity of fertility, the patron of children. In the arms of Tatarstan Republic the leopard - the patron of citizens of republic and its people.
The leopard is on the background of the sun red disk. The sun was the main deity of many peoples in the antiquity. The red sun on the arms of Tatarstan means a kind sign, success, happiness, life.
On the left side of the leopard there is the round shield, meaning legal, economic and power security of citizens of Tatarstan.
On the State Emblem of Tatarstan the sun is of red colour, the leopard, its wings and rosette on the shield - white, the frame - green, the shield, ornament on the frame and the inscription "Tatarstan" - of golden colour.
The flower of aster with even quantity of petals symbolizes an eternal source of life, longevity, wish of longevity.
The raised right forepaw of the leopard is the traditional heraldic gesture underlining greatness of the Supreme authority. It means started movement (affair) "step of the right leg", the kind beginning of movement of Tatarstan in the way of updating.
Sharp teeth and claws of the leopard mean its ability to stand for itself and for those whom it patronizes, whom protects.
Seven feathers of wings of the leopard symbolize space of influence of patronizing force of the leopard - both on the land and in heaven.
Position of the tail means good mood, friendliness.
The popular tatar vegetative ornament and flower of a tulip personify awakening of spring nature and symbolize revival of Tatarstan.
Three gold circles cover the arms at three levels. They express the idea of unity, infinity and the supreme perfection.
Symbolical values of colors:
Gold color - grace, beauty, riches of the Tatarstan land;
Green color - greens of spring, revival of Tatarstan;
White color - cleanliness of thoughts of Tatarstan citizens;
Red color - maturity, energy, force, life, viability of Tatarstan.
The arms of Tatarstan approves such universal, moral values, as kindness, validity, well-being of citizens, friendship between peoples, peace and progress.
